The catholic students of classes IX – XII attended a two-day retreat at Bandel. We were accompanied by Sr. Clara Swaminathan our principal and Sr. Mary John. The first day began with Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Tony SDB, the youth director of Bandel church. It was followed by a motivational session by Fr. Tony. The second part of the retreat was taken over by Sr. Selene MSMI who helped us to grow in mind, body and soul. The adoration, healing prayers and anointing prayer sessions were too powerful and helped a lot in our spiritual development. The presence of the Prior Fr. Francis and Fr. N.D. Thomas were also a blessing. We were lucky to avail the sacrament of reconciliation and counseling session that had a positive impact in our personal life.
The Catholic teachers of Auxilium Convent School, Barasat along with the Principal Sr.Clara Saminathan and the Vice Principal Sr. Mary John went to Bandel Basilica on the 15th of July to spend the day in prayer. As soon as we reached, we made our way to the Retreat House and everyone was made to feel comfortable in their respective rooms. We then proceeded to have our breakfast. Thereafter, we started our day of recollection in the chapel under the guidance of Fr.Tony SDB who led all of us into the prayer moments. His inspiring words and interactive conversations strengthened our faith in Jesus. It was an enriching session with him and helped us to take a firm promise of making the presence of Jesus active in our lives.
There was a counselling session with Sr. Lizzy who guided us in every way possible by bringing us closer to God. It was followed by a Rosary service and lunch. This was followed by a movie ‘God is not dead’. We also had the opportunity to make a good confession at this hour. We concluded our day in prayer with a Eucharistic celebration. Ms. Silvia Gomes thanked Fr. Tony on behalf of everyone for a highly inspiring and enriching day. Ms. Rita Biswas thanked Sr.Clara and Sr.Mary for giving us this wonderful chance and making all the arrangements for the day. We, then departed for our journey back home at 6pm.
On 7th July 2017, 24 catholic students of Auxilium convent School Barasat, along with Sr. Shirley Kalapurayil and Sr. Mary John went to Bandel basilica for a retreat. The program started with the holy Eucharist by Rev. Fr. Tony Sdb. After the holy Mass all went to the Balcony to pray the holy rosary. After supper we watched a movie named Our Lady of Fatima. We learned the importance of praying the rosary. The life and courage of Jacinta, Lucy and Francisco touched us and inspired us a lot.
The following day we began our day with the Holy Eucharist. The day’s programme was animated by Rev. Fr. Tony and Deacon Felix Raja Sdb. The topics dealt were the importance of prayer and the word of God in our life and the need to have a programmed life. We were given opportunities to express our difficulties we face in our life and solutions were suggested. Fr. Tony exhorted us to have will power and be strong in our decisions.
In the afternoon we had the privilege to avail the sacrament of confession and few were lucky to receive counseling. We also had a guided tour of the Basilica. We concluded our day with the Holy Rosary at the shrine of Our Lady and watching the story of a monk called Nacho, who loved the orphan children and worked hard to provide food for them. On Sunday 9th July after Holy Mass at the Basilica and breakfast we left Bandel. We are grateful to Sr. Principal Sr. Clara Swaminathan for giving us this golden opportunity to know God and the bible in a better way.
The teachers of Auxilium Convent School, Dum Dum spent a fruitful day with God on 22nd October, 2016 with their hearts and minds tuned to His Word. The session which stretched from 8 00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. which was animated by Rev. Fr. Biji Thomas SDB, who really brought Jesus to the teachers through his preaching on the Word of God. Fr. Biji primarily spoke on sin, suffering and surrender. He started his session by referring to some of the most comforting lines in the Bible, Come to me all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. (Mt. 11:28)
Father went on to beautifully elaborate on the yoke; the Lord is calling each one of us to carry, which we, due to our limited understanding consider to be merely a burden. Father helped the teachers to prepare their hearts to receive Jesus in the Sacrament of Reconciliation by referring to ‘Man’s first Disobedience and showing them how sin is a stumbling block in the way of grace.
The post-lunch session was spent on Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Confessions, the recital of the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet and preparation for the Holy Eucharist.
Throughout the session the teachers experienced the power and presence of the living God amidst them. The Deliverance Prayer and the Special Blessing at the end of the session sanctified not only the teachers and the institution but also their families they had left behind at home. Father was kind enough to stay much beyond the time allotted, for sessions of personal counseling. In a word it was a real encounter with Jesus for each and every teacher.

On 13th August 2016, hour of grace filled the air at Holy Child Auxilium, R. K.Puram for the little ones who spent half a day in close union with Jesus. “Jesus loves the little children and shows mercy” was the theme of the day. 65 children of classes III & IV spent the time fruitfully in singing and praising Jesus the merciful Saviour. Sr. Perumpettikunnel Lily together with Sr. Minj Anima organized and conducted the prayer moments. With the help of a short clipping on Bl.Mariam Theresia, children were encouraged to love Jesus in a personal and child-like manner. Here are some of the echoes from the children themselves: “I will help others in need like Blessed Theresia”; “I will talk to Jesus as if to my close friend”; “I will be a good girl and love everyone”. The day with God was concluded with a thanksgiving prayer and seeking God’s blessings
